Give Me Liberty.... or Give Me Death!

Berks Tea Party Holds First Membership Meeting

Before an overflow crowd of around 150 patriots, the leadership of BTP provided the attendees with talks regarding why it is important to stay the course that we may return our nation to a constitutional government. Chairman John Stahl both moderated and offered a rally cry why it’s more important than ever to make our elected representatives know that we’re here to stay and, if they want to remain employed in their chosen profession, they’d do well by acknowledging our presence. Stahl also talked about the need for unity, organization and education if we are to have the impact we desire.

Membership Chairperson, Ann Hertzog spoke about her own family history regarding how two of her grandparents were murdered by the Nazis and the other two paid a horrific price in displace persons camps during the war and post war government until they finally had the opportunity to legally immigrate to America. It was emotionally driven and well received by the audience

Financial Secretary, Jim Billman told us why he joined the BTP and shared his concern that the country in which he grew up will not be the same one his children will enjoy unless citizens get involved.

Outreach Chairman, Rod Miller provided a summary of the many issues that need citizen involvement from overreaching, overspending and overtaxing government to the burden of illegal immigration. Other topics such as political corruption, bailouts and healthcare were also noted.

Webmaster, Amy Queen provided a comprehensive overview on how everyone can learn to interface with our web site and why it is important to learn how to use social networking to improve our outreach and membership.

Social Network Coordinator and chair woman of the Unity Project, Donna Peters focused on how the BTP can interface with other groups and bloggers and how a link of many organizations will produce more noise than many unlinked groups..

Luke Hertzog emphasized the need to structure the organization like a company,

Following the statements from the directors, there were questions and comments entertained from the floor. One can only wonder what size group would have responded if we would have used paid advertising. It indicates with certainty that the citizens have been awakened and, barring a letdown, there are changes in the wind.

Politicians….LOOK OUT !!
